County Executive Letter

Wicomico County, Maryland is in the heart of Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore, an area blessed with beautiful fields, woods, rivers and streams. With a population of just under 100,000, Wicomico County has many attractions usually found in more metropolitan areas. We have over 75 regional parks and are famous for maintaining on e of the finest outdoor recreation systems for a county of our size. Because of these facilities, Wicomico County has been able to host many regional and national sports tournaments. Additionally, our Wicomico Youth & Civic Center offers an opportunity for citizens and visitors to experience exciting entertainment, host meetings, stage sporting events and enjoy receptions.

Our Visitor’s Center is rated as one of the busiest in Maryland. By working closely with local Convention and Visitor’s Association member businesses, the Tourism Center creates a welcoming atmosphere for our visitors.

Wicomico County is also home to the award-winning Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex, the Baltimore Orioles Single A Affiliate Delmarva Shorebirds, a nationally recognized zoo, top-rated Salisbury University and highly regarded Wor-Wic Community College. We also have a wide variety of retail establishments, including the East Coast’s largest country store and a regional shopping mall. Visiting shoppers have many choices here.

Wicomico County has accommodations perfectly priced for most any price range. Modern hotels or quaint bed and breakfasts provide lodging that is easily accessible to the county’s unique trove of attractions and hidden treasures.

As a bonus, two of Maryland’s premier tourist destinations, Ocean City and the Chesapeake Bay, are only thirty minutes away from downtown Salisbury.

I invite you to come and “Discover Delmarva’s Hidden Treasures” for yourself. We look forward to welcoming you to our home.

Sincerely,

Rick Pollitt
Wicomico County Executive
