Discover Delmarva's Hidden Treasures

Treasures abound in Salisbury, Maryland, a small city with big time attractions tucked peacefully between the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Sprawling scenery, a peaceful atmosphere, top-notch dining, unique shopping and entertainment opportunities offer the perfect remedy for visitors looking to escape it all for a day, two or more.

2008 Autumn Wine Festival is Just Around the Corner

The 2008 Wicomico County Autumn Wine Festival will be held October 18th and 19th at Pemberton Historical Park in Salisbury, Maryland and we are looking forward to beautiful autumn weather and a record number of attendees!

The event is celebrating its 6th anniversary with a record nineteen participating wineries and nearly fifty arts, crafts and food vendors. What's more, live music from a variety of musical groups will fill the air as attendees sample many varieties of wine.

The festival would also not have been possible with out sponsor contributions from local businesses including WMDT 47, Pepsi, Clear Channel Outdoor, Public Radio Delmarva, The Centre at Salisbury, Bennett Construction, Saturn and in kind donations from Grist Mill Gardens, Nutters Crossing Golf course and the State Highway Administration.

Be sure to visit www.autumnwinefestival.org for more information and to purchase your discount advance tickets.

Attraction of the Month

Bordeleau Winery is located in the heart of Maryland's Eastern Shore, nestled between the gentle slopes of Wicomico Creek. Their vineyards share the stage with an abundance of wildlife - bald eagles, great blue herons, fox, deer, geese and wild turkeys - along with pristine wetlands that help to protect the Chesapeake Bay.

The name Bordeleau - "the water's edge" - was chosen to reflect not only the distinctive environment where they hand-harvest the grapes but also the favorable climate similarities to the world-class Bordeaux region of France.

This past summer, Bordeleau opened Wicomico County's first licensed winery and tasting room, thereby achieving a new milestone by presenting its wines and events to the public at large. Initial response has been very gratifying. Distribution through local and regional restaurants and retail outlets is underway, and competitions and festivals are bringing additional recognition.

The owner and winemaker, Tom Shelton, invites you to come and savor the unique Bordeleau experience, where their mission is to create their own world-class wines...a little closer to home.

The winery is also a wonderful location to hold your next special event or meeting. A meeting room is on premises and the tasting room is also available before or after your event. The winery has agreements with several different local restaurants and can help you choose a caterer to fit your needs.

For more information visit their website at www.bordeleauwine.com or join them at the 6th Annual Autumn Wine Festival being held at Pemberton Historical Park on October 18 & 19, 2008.
