Wicomico County is seeking photos that illustrate the lifestyle, beauty and assets of Wicomico County. Topics to consider are listed below, but we encourage creativity.
The contest is open to any photographer ages 18 and older.
If you are under the age of 18, then your parent or legal guardian must enter on your behalf.
All photos must be taken in Wicomico County, Maryland.
Wicomico County employees, their immediate family members, and people living in their households are ineligible.
The submission period closed August 25, 2023 at 5 p.m. EDT.
Complete the online entry form. Only online entries will be accepted.
By submitting a photo, you promise that your entry complies with the Official Rules. You may submit up to 10 photos. Each photo must be in digital format and have a caption. All photos must be submitted as high-resolution JPEG files. Each photo must be at least 5x7 (or 1500x2100) at 300 dpi or larger. If you submit any photo less than this resolution standard, then the photo may be ineligible. Photos must be taken by the entrant and be the property of the entrant.
Photos must comply with all applicable laws. Photos that are obscene, defamatory, sexually explicit, or inappropriate will be disqualified at our discretion.
Photos must have been taken within two years of entry into this contest.
Photos may not have been published previously for monetary payment.
Only minor editing of a photo is acceptable. Extensively edited photos will be ineligible.
Before submitting a photo with an identifiable person, you must obtain a release signed by the person (or their parent or legal guardian) using this form: Wicomico County Photo Release. You must send us any release within 7 days of your submission via email ([email protected]) or mail (Niki Wheatley, Wicomico Recreation, Parks & Tourism, 500 Glen Avenue, Salisbury, MD 21804).
1st Place: $500 and their winning photo on the Wicomico Tourism website, in a Wicomico Tourism e-newsletter, and in the next published Wicomico Tourism Visitors Guide.
2nd Place: $250 and the opportunity, at the discretion of Wicomico County, to have their winning photo displayed on the Wicomico Tourism website and in the next published Wicomico Tourism Visitors Guide.
3rd Place: $100 and the opportunity, at the discretion of Wicomico County, to have their winning photo displayed on the Wicomico Tourism website and in the next published Wicomico Tourism Visitors Guide.
We will e-mail winners by Sept. 1, 2023. If you don't provide a valid e-mail address, your entry may be disqualified. To receive prizes, winners must complete additional forms within 30 days. If winners don't claim their prize or complete the required forms, we may select an alternate winner or not award the prize.
Prizes may not be transferred.
Our judges, at their sole discretion, will make 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place selections based on the quality, composition, content, originality, creativity, and mass appeal. Decisions are final.
Only winners will be notified of the outcome. A list of the winners will be posted at www.WicomicoTourism.org/events/photo-contest from Sept. 1, 2023 at 5 p.m. EST to June 1, 2024 at 5 p.m. EST.
By entering, all entrants grant to Wicomico County the irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide right, currently and in the future, in any media or on any merchandise. to: (i) reproduce, distribute, and display any photo entered in the contest, and (ii) to modify and create derivative works of any photo entered in the contest.
Entries become the property of Wicomico County when submitted and will not be returned.
We may terminate or modify any part of the contest at any time for any reason.
We may disqualify anyone who violates these Official Rules.
By entering, all entrants agree to release and indemnify Wicomico County, its agents and employees from all claims related to the contest and the present or future use of the photos submitted.
