Saturday marked the first day of summer. This summer is a little different because of COVID-19 restrictions, but that doesn't mean it won't be a fun one. Here are a few ideas for enjoying the season.
1. Go out for ice cream.
2. Spend time outdoors.
Wicomico County has so many beautiful parks. Find one you've never been to before and check it out. We have other suggestions, too, like getting out on the water or picking your own fruit. Check out nine ways to enjoy the outdoors in this blog post.
3. Take photos.
Bring a camera — or your phone — with you as you explore Wicomico County, and snap photos of pretty scenes and the unique things you see along the way. Our annual Wicomico County Tourism Photo Contest is open for entries through Aug. 12 at 5 p.m. Enter your best photos taken here in Wicomico County in the past two years for your chance to win a cash prize. Find the entry form and details here.
4. Pick and eat crabs.
5. Visit a local produce market or stand.
Get in-season produce from one of Wicomico County's many produce markets and stands. Wicomico County also has two farmers markets: the Camden Avenue Farmers Market, held Tuesdays from 2:30-5:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Asbury United Methodist Church, and the Shore Fresh Growers Farmers Market, held Saturdays from 8 a.m.-noon in Downtown Salisbury.
