With so many scenic places here in Wicomico County, it would be a shame not to bring your phone along and snap a few photos. Here are some of our favorite places to grab a pic. Be sure to follow us at @wicomicocountymd and share your photos with us using the hashtag #FunWicomico.
Entries for our annual Photo Contest are open now through Aug. 12 at 5 p.m. People ages 18 and up can submit up to 10 photos, and three winners will be chosen to earn cash prizes. We're sharing these Instagrammable ideas, but of course, we'd love to see your creativity from anywhere throughout Wicomico County.
Salisbury City Park
The Salisbury City Park features a path by the water, plus plenty of trees. Take in the views and pose for a photo on the white bridge that crosses the water. The City Park is also a good place to photograph wildlife. (Photo at left is by Sean Stearns.)
The wooded trails at Pemberton Park and the backdrop of the historic Pemberton Hall offer beautiful photo opportunities. (Photo by Susanne Smeltzer.)
From Salisbury, drive about 20 miles on Nanticoke Road and turn off for Roaring Point Park. You'll be treated to stunning views from this beach along the Nanticoke River, and if the time is right, colorful sunsets. (Photo by Tony Weeg.)
The Salisbury University Arboretum offers numerous species of flowers and trees, plus statues throughout the grounds. The pergola is a nice spot for photos. (Photo by Amy Blevins-Gordon.)
New in 2019, take a snapshot against a colorful wings mural painted on a wall behind the Downtown Plaza near the Powell Building off Camden Street. Use the hashtag #SalisburyWings to share your photos. Note: This one may be more of a fun photo to take while you're out, but if you do submit any photos with recognizable people to our Photo Contest, you'll have to submit a photo release that the person/people have signed.
The Salisbury Zoo is closed at this time because of COVID-19, but we didn't want to leave it off our list. Photo Contest entries can be taken in the last two years, so maybe you have a beautiful photo from the zoo to share with us.
