To start out, we'll share 10 things you must do in Wicomico County.
"Hang out" at the zoo.
At this free attraction, see bears, monkeys, flamingos, otters and more. Have a friend snap a photo as you hang like a sloth by the sloth exhibit.
Pick a blue crab.
Part of enjoying the full crab feast experience is to pick one yourself. Not sure how to get to the crab meat? Ask your restaurant server or a local friend.
Slurp an oyster.
With a community named "Bivalve," Wicomico County is the perfect spot to slurp a raw oyster.
Watch a sunset.
There are so many beautiful places to view the sunset from, so make it a point to see at least one while you're here. Some ideal viewing spots are Roaring Point and Cove Road Beach.
Catch a game.
If you're in town in the spring or summer, watch the Delmarva Shorebirds at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, which debuted a new deck wrapping around the outfield in 2019.
Enjoy the arts.
Visit Salisbury's new murals: Two are in the downtown area and another is nearby along Route 13. See more art at Salisbury University's galleries, the Salisbury Art Space and during monthly 3rd Friday events. What's your favorite thing to do in Wicomico County? Let us know in the comments!
Cross the state line on foot.
Cross State Street in Delmar – "The Little Town Too Big for One State" – and you'll be in both Maryland and Delaware for a moment. Further outside of town, the boundary is Line Road. Be sure to cross at a crosswalk.
Take a ferry ride.
Travel across the Wicomico River on one of the County's free ferries. The Whitehaven Ferry, which has been in operation since 1688, goes from the village of Whitehaven to rural Somerset County, and the Upper Ferry crosses the river closer to the City of Salisbury. Call the ferry hotline before you make your trip at 410-543-2765.
Go back in time.
There are plenty of opportunities to revisit the past here in Wicomico County, whether it's the 18th century at Pemberton Hall, the 19th century at Poplar Hill Mansion or another historic landmark or destination.
See the world's largest public collection of decoys.
It's not every day you have a chance to experience the "world's largest" of something. See numerous decoys, both from long ago and present day, at the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art.
